Care of the Common Fig
for Northeast Florida Landscapes
Fig Tree Help for Jacksonville / St. Augustine and its surrounding areas
Finding information on how to grow fig trees can get confusing because only one of the four varieties of fig trees will grow in Northeast Florida. So the majority of information you find on fig trees may not be referring specifically to the “Common Figs” that grow so well here in our subtropical climate zones.
The Common fig is just one of the four types of Fig trees that grow in other areas of the south like California where its hot but not so humid. With four types of fig trees and hundreds of selections of each type of fig, all with their own unique little traits and differences its no wonder its so hard to get generalized help for fig trees. Once source of information seems to contradict another, but may be dealing with that local fig production and not be relative for North Florida / Jacksonville and St. Augustine area fig trees.
Here are just a few help topics on how to care for the Common fig tree answered with the Jacksonville / St. Augustine and surrounding area gardeners in mind. Hope it helps!
