Double Blue Butterfly Pea Vine

The Double flower form of the Blue Butterfly Pea is such a vibrant deep purple and the extra petals make them really show off against the foliage of the plant. They are such a beautiful edible ornamental I really believe you will NOT regret planting either of these in your garden. The blooms are as prolific as they are beautiful and you can pull the seedpods so that they jsut keep on producing loads and loads of blooms all through the fall season! They can be planted as an annual in cooler climates or allowed to regrow the following year as a perennial in our subtropical climate zone. They are relatively reliable as a perennial in North East Florida landscapes and regrow quickly starting in about May even if we have a severe winter here that knocks them all the way back down to the roots.
This is a quick video of the single blue butterfly pea vine regrowing the following year in my home garden following a harsh winter where I got temperatures down to 27 degrees and over 30 hours of freezing night temperatures over a 3 to 4 day period which is WAY more cold than I normally get here in St. Johns County near the fruit cove area.
