Sometimes, its time to rip out everything and redo it. Sometimes plants that are doing well but may just be outgrowing the space they were given can be kept and worked into the new landscapes or kept in place as they are. This plan is a good example of that where beautiful existing Crepe Myrtles and African Iris are kept in place while other overgrown items are removed and replaced.
